What We Flipped In January To Make $2,433

thrifting

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

Today we’re talking about what we sold last month to make $2,433 in sales with just three items!

We started doing income reports on our blog in 2015 after watching some other bloggers do them for their own businesses. It was inspiring to us, so we started doing income reports as a way to show others that the reselling business is profitable. You can make money from this business.

If you’re flipping right now and you’re only making $200-$500 per month, we want to show you what the potential is once you hone your skills and get good at what you’re doing.

It’s important to remember not to compare yourself to others, especially if you’re just starting. It’s your journey and everyone’s journey is different.

So let’s dive into our January sales!

Item #1 – Knee RehabMachine

The first sale of the year was the knee rehab machine. This was a rehab unit that allows someone to place their knee inside and it moves the knee up and down. I picked this up from a flea market a few weeks prior and paid $60. Comps initially looked to be $400-$700, but after further investigation, I realized those were low. The retail on this item was closer to $3,000 so we listed it for $1,800 or $1,900. It actually sold for $1,600 including shipping when I sent an offer to a watcher. We shipped it with FedEx, it did not have to go freight.

Item #2 – Glass Suction Cup

The second item was a glass suction cup. This is an item that allows those installing glass windows to suction the glass for leverage to be able to pick it up. It picks up 500-700 pounds and helps lift really heavy pieces of glass. We bought that one from the flea market for $10 and had it listed for a while.

Item #3 – Metal Box

Our third item was a metal breaker type of box. I purchased 40 of these a while back for cheap because they were in bulk. The retail price on these is $1,500-$2,000. This one actually shipped via freight and we paid a little extra because our regular freight carrier is having some shipping delays due to COVID.

Drum Roll Please…

Here is the breakdown to get to the actual profits. We invested a total of $80 of our own money with total sales of $2,433. Our eBay fees were $307 and our shipping costs were $356.

Our total profit for January flipping was $1,690!

The best part is we made this money with minimal time investment. We probably had less than 10 hours invested to get these sales. It wasn’t a record-breaking month, but it was definitely a good month for the amount of time we invested.

Our goal for 2022 is to hit $100,000. Last year we came in just shy of that, at $90,058, and you can listen to Episode 24 of the Reseller Hangout Podcast to hear the breakdown of our sales, costs of goods, fees, shipping, and profits.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
