Are your eBay sales stagnant? Have you tried everything to get those sales moving?
This happens to most eBay sellers from time to time. We’re going to jump into seven tips that’ll help you get those sales moving quicker. These tips have helped us in the past make those sales come in fast and consistently.
There will be highs and lows in the business as it ebbs and flows, but if you do find yourself being stagnant try one or more of these tips.
Check The Title, Description And Pictures
Titles are the only way that items are going to come up in searches. eBay has an 80-character limit for titles, so use it to the max! It doesn’t always have to make sense. Use those buzzwords. For example, if you’re listing a refrigerator, put the name of the refrigerator, it’s a Kenmore, it’s a Frigidaire. Include the model number, material like stainless steel, double door, or whatever other details you have.
It doesn’t have to be a pretty title. You just want as many words in it as you can fit. You want to make sure to include any and every word you can think of that you would use when searching for that item so it comes up in search engine searches.
The same goes for the description. Try to give the best description you can. Make sure you point out any imperfections, even if you have pictures of them.
As for the pictures, make sure that your pictures are clear. You don’t have to have an amazing camera or lighting set up. A cell phone camera will work just fine. Find a blank wall and pick a bright space without clutter. If you use a phone editor to brighten them up, make sure you don’t brighten them up too much to where you change the color. eBay allows you to include 12 pictures so try to use every single one of them.
Send Offers To Your Watchers
If you have watchers on an item, you can go in and send offers to those watchers. Our rule of thumb is if you get 7 to 10 watchers and that item is priced right, it should sell. If you’re at 10 or 15 watchers, maybe go in and click “send offer,” and take $20 off, depending on the item.
That will trigger eBay to email those potential buyers with the offer. Buyers have 48 hours to accept an offer. Once you’ve sent an offer, eBay doesn’t allow you to go in and revise your listing until the offer has expired, so if you’re going to revise it do that before you send an offer.
eBay will also allow you to send one offer to somebody who sends you a message.
Try A Promoted Listing
There are a couple of ways to do promoted listings. The most user-friendly way to do it is actually going into your listing and eBay will give you options to promote it. They’re going to give you the recommended percentage that they want you to pay them if it sells. Typically, that’s going to be anywhere from 3% all the way up to 10%, but you can actually decide what percentage you want to do. We’ve had great luck doing 1%. And the best part about this is that you don’t pay them unless it sells.
Now, if I want to move the item, I probably will do exactly what they’re recommending I do.
There’s also promoted listings advanced beta, which is a cost-per-click model, so you’re basically running an ad campaign. We haven’t tried these yet and we don’t want to pay eBay more than we need to. With these listings, you’ll pay whether or not it sells.
The third way that you can promote your listing is by running a sale. You can actually go in and do a weekend sale or a sale for a couple of days for specific items in your eBay store.
Re-Examine Your Price
If you have an item that has been listed for a while, chances are, maybe some other items have come in and sold cheaper and your item is priced too high.
It’s always good to go back and check if it’s been listed for a month or two. Check if it’s too high compared to those other listings. If you have minimal feedback you may need to price your item at the lower end of those comps versus if you have a lot of really good feedback.
End And Relist
This is something that has worked for us in the past when we have not had sales coming in.
If stuff gets stagnant, then maybe pull it off and then relist it. It comes up as a fresh listing. Do not relist it immediately. Let it sit off the market for a little while, three to five days, and then put it back up as a new listing. You’ll get new watchers on that listing and fresh views.
Shop On Ebay
eBay likes you to spend time on the platform and actually rewards users for that. The algorithm loves time on the platform. So if you can, switch from shopping on Amazon to shopping on eBay. It may take a few more days to get your item, but eBay will reward you for spending time on the platform and it could lead more buyers to your items.
Do A Listing Challenge
Do your own personal listing challenge. Decide if you want to do 15 days or a month, and list one to five items consistently daily.
We have done this for many years ourselves, and have also done it with our private Facebook group that includes Flipper University alumni. We always see results. The more you list consistently, the more the algorithms like it, and the more they’re going to show your listings to people.
Bonus: Cross Post Your Items
We’ve been talking about eBay sales, but if your item isn’t selling you can cross-post your items on a couple of platforms. You can do it manually or you can use an app to cross-post. Vendoo makes it pretty easy to do a cross-post among multiple platforms.
People can be loyal to specific platforms too, so if it’s not selling on eBay, get your item in front of a different audience.
Try some of these tips to get those sales coming in again and keep that money flowing!
