Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

On the show today is Joanna Bradley — a Flipper University alum whose reselling side hustle allowed her to pay cash for a $9,500 camper.

Joanna lives in Arizona, works a full-time job, and also helps on the Flea Market Flipper team.

Once Joanna completed her first freight shipment, she realized there was nothing to be scared of and it was time for her to just go for it.

How Did You Get Started On Your Flipping Journey?

A few years ago Joanna was looking for new opportunities. She wasn’t happy with her job and wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. She found Flea Market Flipper and realized she had been reselling items off and on for years with her daughter’s baby stuff although it was very part-time. After finding Flea Market Flipper, she was inspired to jump in and start doing more with flipping. And her journey has just been incredible!

What Obstacles Did You Face When You First Started Flipping?

When Joanna first got into flipping she faced lots of obstacles. Time was number one. Fear was another. Everybody has fear of the unknown and can I do it? Joanna says even though she was doing okay in life she saw people who were doing amazing and thought that was always for other people. So she did a lot of work on herself, affirmations, and positive thinking, and realized the reselling gig boils down to hard work and just doing it.

She says the difference between fear and success is just doing it.

Time goes by whether you make a change or not, so Joanna tried to make the best use of her time so she doesn’t have regrets or wish she had tried something later on.

There’s no better time than now, she says.

When You First Got Into Freight Shipping Did It Scare You?

Joanna says being scared was an understatement, but she saw other people being successful at freight shipping. At first, she couldn’t do it, but at the end of 2020, she decided she was just going to go for it. If it was hard, she’d be okay.

For Joanna even though she had a truck, a handy husband, and strong willpower herself, it was still terrifying to take that step.

She listed her first item, hoping it wouldn’t sell, but when it did she figured it out. After the pallet was on the forklift driving across the parking lot she and her husband asked themselves why they waited. And then they decided to go for it!

How Did You Buy Your Camper?

Joanna and her family had a little pop-up camper but it didn’t have a bathroom and they talked about upgrading for a while.

As she started flipping more Joanna started putting all her money in a savings account. One night she found an adorable camper online for $9,500 that she knew was the one she’d been looking for. She also knew it would go fast.

It was being sold by a woman who lived two and a half hours away and it was 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Joanna asked the seller if she’d hold it until the morning, but the woman said she wasn’t sure because she might have other offers sooner. Joanna used a trick she learned from flipping and asked if she could send the person a $500 deposit if they could hold it for her until noon the next day. The seller said yes.

The next morning, Joanna went to the bank and took out $9,000 cash. And paid for the camper of her dreams with cash.

Joanna says she thought it was going to be hard to hand over that much money, but it was an amazing, freeing feeling because she knew she could make that much money back again by flipping.

Other Flipping Wins

The camper isn’t Joanna’s only win. Last year alone she was able to pay 100% cash for 10 family birthdays, she flew her mother from Maine to Arizona, made multiple extra car payments, made multiple extra student loan payments, bought a hot tub, and paid 100% cash for Christmas.

There are also the wins that come from working on the business as a family. Joanna’s husband builds the pallets and she wraps the items inside. Her daughter made a couple of hundred dollars flipping recently too. It’s a family affair.

What Is An Average Month Of Sales For You?

Joanna averages $2,000 to $3,000 per month with her flipping side hustle. In January she was over $5,000 with just seven sales including two big freight flips for almost $1,700 each.

What Are Some Key Takeaways?

Joanna says take a gamble on yourself and believe in yourself. It’s not magic, but hard work and consistency will pay off. Each year and each month she took different risks, but she took it gradually to build confidence and learn the skills.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
