This is the day that can change your life in 2024. Yes, I know this is a bold claim, but it’s possible.
About a year and a half ago, I told Melissa I found an amazing vacation and it was a 17-day Hawaii cruise. Right off the bat, Melissa said we didn’t have the money for it so I needed to flip items if I wanted it to happen.
This is not the first time that we flipped items to go on a cruise. Melissa and I went on a Transatlantic cruise in 2010 and I paid for it within two months. The difference was we didn’t have kids. That cruise was $600 a person and this one was $6,000 total. I told Melissa I wanted to do it and it would be an epic trip so I challenged myself as a high profit flip to find one item that would pay for the entire cruise.
As a high profit flipper, I don’t spend a lot of money on items. I don’t want to go out there and spend $5,000 to make $6,000. So for me to make enough money the regular retail on the item has to be very high.
A Flip For A Trip
I found a Turbo Chef oven, the kind you’d see sitting on a countertop inside of a sub shop. It was listed for $300 and I offered the seller $150 and we picked it up immediately. I knew the retail on this oven purchased new was $35,000-$40,000 and this guy was trying to get rid of it. He was going another route with the kitchen he was doing and didn’t want it anymore.
It was an amazing find and I flipped it within a month and made $6,250, enough to cover the cruise for my family! I was just floored that we were able to do this and be able to pay for this cruise off of one flip.
We did it and we went on the cruise and had an amazing time. We drove our truck and trailer from Florida to L.A. and picked up items along the way. Then we parked the truck in a covered area, took the 17-day cruise, and drove back.
