This time of the year is the best time to get out there and find amazing deals.
There are a couple of reasons we can find good deals and inventory this year, and the first is because, at the end of the year, people need more money to pay for Christmas presents and might be willing to let things go for cheaper.
The other day my buddy picked up a commercial oven that retails for just over $10,000. He picked it up for $500. He did have to drive three hours south of us to pick it up, but he has $500 into that oven and is going to keep it for his restaurant. If he were going to turn around and sell it, he’d have no problem probably getting between $5,000-$7,000 for this oven.
The seller asked for $1,000, and my friend got a great deal because he sent an offer for half. The guy wrote back super quick and said, “Absolutely.” This happens all the time. At the end of the year, you’ll be able to send offers out to people and get some good inventory. You can get that inventory list up and up and up so you can make more money.
Deals Continue Through January
Finding good deals continues through the beginning of next year because in January, people are paying off credit cards and then need the money, or they’re decluttering and just getting rid of stuff for next to nothing because they just want it gone.
It’s a perfect time to be on the lookout for those items you could resell. Look on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and OfferUp.
Another way to get good inventory in January is by sourcing from return pallets. Often, returns are just because somebody doesn’t want them. It doesn’t mean that it’s not working; it’s just that they didn’t want it and returned it.
We don’t do a lot of return pallets, but we buy from vendors at the flea market who do purchase a lot of those. So we can pick and choose from their inventory.
Five years ago, we made like $3,000 on star shower lights. I bought ten from one of my vendors, and they sold fast, so I bought a pallet of 100 and another pallet of 100. We started listing locally on Marketplace at cost because the stores were out. It was at least a $3,000 bonus right at Christmas, which was cool. Be on the lookout for return pallets. That’s where our vendor got them from. Now, we did spend time testing each set. And only about 10% of them didn’t work, or some only had one color. That was some work, but the majority of them were like new.
Source Exercise Equipment
Be on the lookout for exercise equipment because you can sell it on Marketplace and eBay. It’s hot at the beginning of the year, so you want to have it listed for January. That’s the time when people make New Year’s resolutions and want to get back in shape with their health and fitness journey. You can find some great deals at the end of the year and resell them in January.
The key to exercise equipment is to buy quality, well-known brands. The money has to be there to deal with shipping it. You want to be able to sell it for $800-$2,000 if you’re going to ship it. If you don’t want to ship, you can sell them locally for good money too.
Happy Holidays!
We’ve been working hard all year, and you probably have too. Q4 is the time of year to take time to spend with family, rest, and stay well. We’re taking a break from the podcast for a few weeks to spend time with family and enjoy the holidays, but we will be back in the new year . In the meantime, DM us on Instagram, source for items, and enjoy the holiday season! Happy holidays!
