Sometimes Drastic Change = Amazing Results

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

Change is hard, and it’s even harder when you have to do something drastic.

But today I’m going to share why drastic change can lead to amazing results and what change I’m making for the next 90 days.

Melissa and I just got back from a Mastermind in Mexico and had a blast. We were in a beautiful all-inclusive resort surrounded by 600 like-minded motivated individuals who want to achieve their goals. We took our kids, my sister, and nieces, and had a really great time while learning a lot of information we plan to take into our flipping business. And I’m going to share some of that with you today.

Mindset And Progress

Having a positive mindset is essential to success in the flipping business. Try to surround yourself with other like-minded people. Just being around people who are driven or people who want some of the same things as you can help motivate you to meet your goals in your reselling business.

If you’re not moving forward, you’re regressing. You don’t just stay in the same place. The lack of action or forward direction is actually regression. If you feel like you’re stuck you may need some new inspiration or a drastic change.

The Mastermind talked about mindset and that led me to make a commitment to something I had been thinking about doing the last couple of years that is a really hard step for me.

We’ve created some big goals for ourselves for 2022 such as hitting $100,000 in sales. We also have two parts to our flipping business — flipping and coaching. We want to make sure we can get those done and grow and share resources with the reseller community, so the first step was figuring out how to create more time in my day to spend working toward those goals.

Figure Out Where Your Time Is Going

If you’re struggling to get your items listed on eBay or can’t find time to go sourcing, you might need to look at where you’re actually spending your time.

One of the exercises at the Mastermind was to create a weekly calendar and note what we were doing every day from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. We had to write down exactly what we’re doing so we could see where we were spending our time, and where we could get some of our time back.

Now, family time is very important to us. We both help get the kids ready for school every day, we go for our morning run, we have lunch together, and then we pick the kids up and spend time with them after school. Our day surrounds our family and our relationship together, and we’re not willing to compromise on that, but we want to still hit our goals and have time to get the work done that we need to do.

Make A Big Change

When I was trying to figure out where to find the extra hours, I realized I might have to make a big change or a temporary sacrifice to hit our goals. After looking at my timesheet and seeing where I could make more time for the business, I realized I needed to change my evening routine.

I normally like to spend a few hours at the end of the day relaxing by watching TV. Now if I gave up that TV time, I’d have a few more hours each day to work toward our goals.

So that’s it! My big commitment for the next 90 days is to not watch TV. We even went so far as to remove the TV from our living room to make this a priority. We are committed to hitting that $100,000 sales goal this year.

Get The Whole Family On The Same Page

Making big changes can’t just be one person. To achieve big goals, you need to get the whole family on board.

Now taking the TV away doesn’t just impact me; it impacts the kids. They aren’t allowed to watch TV during the weekdays, but every Friday night we do pizza and a movie with them. Now we’re planning to change that to pizza and a game night, but they’ll have some reactions at the beginning as they get used to this change.

The end of the 90 days is when the kids get out of school for summer, so we’ll pull the TV out of storage and put it back up then.

This is a short-term sprint, it’s not for the rest of our lives. It’s what is going to help us meet some of those goals that we have set for the next 90 days. So print a weekly calendar, see where you’re spending your time, and maybe you’ll be able to find a few more hours a week to list items on eBay.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
