We love to hear success stories, and today we’re talking to Flipper University alumna Stacy Gallego. She’s one of our close friends that we’ve gotten to know throughout the last couple of years, and she’s grown her flipping business from $0.50 into more than $100,000 by paying attention to her mindset and thinking positively about her abilities and her business.
How Did You Get Into Flipping?
Stacy started in 2007 when she had two babies and quit her nursing job. A friend was using eBay and asked her to walk her through the platform so she could start selling the clothing her kids no longer needed. It was fun reselling money, and she took it to do something fun with the kids.
In 2018 Stacy started telling her husband she wanted to buy an RV, and the rule was she could buy whatever she wanted as long as she had the money, so Stacy started to think about ways to make money, like walking dogs and then she found us talking about flipping.
Stacy decided to jump into large items and freight shipping. She took 50 cents and went to a yard sale where she bought a cap for a Dodge truck tire. She took that money and put it back into the business. She has never put in any additional money of her own since the initial investment.
Stacy’s flipping business was doing well enough that she was able to quit her nursing job.
At What Point Did Your Husband Realize It Could Be Something?
One of the first big things Stacy sold was a giant cooktop. It was a Viking cooktop, which is a great brand. She bought it for $100 and sold it two days later for $800. That was able to be shipped. Then they had their first freight shipment a couple of weeks later.
Are You Doing This Part-Time Or Full-Time?
Stacy says it’s a full-time paycheck with part-time hours. She invests 15 to 20 hours a week in the business.
What Do You Bring In Average Monthly?
Stacy brings in between $5,000 and $7,000 on average monthly. Some months, she makes $2,500 because she’s been out of town. It’s all about consistency.
Why Have You Gravitated Toward Larger Items?
Stacy says she saw our videos, and it made sense to work less and make more money. She didn’t want to work a lot because she was already doing that with nursing. She says 80% of her listings are larger items.
Do You Have Any Favorite Flips?
Stacy was in a coaching group with us, and we found a motorcycle sidecar 35 miles from us, and she purchased it for $200, and it sold for $3,500.
How Did You Get Through The Doubts?
Stacy has had great success, but she’s also overcome hurdles and bumps in the road, including even last year, when she got in her mind and started thinking she couldn’t do it even though she’d already been doing it.
Stacy says she started forcing herself to think WWRD. What would Rob do? He’d buy the item and figure it out later. She began pushing herself to purchase items and figured out the shipping later.
She started telling herself she could do hard things and would figure it out when she got to that point. That led her to buy inventory she never would’ve purchased two to three years ago.
What Advice Do You Have For Someone Who Might Be Stuck?
Stacy gets over that by talking to herself and reminding herself she can do hard things and figure it out. She says just do it. If you’re waiting to list on eBay, say, “Today, I’m going to list,” and then list one thing on eBay.
Another tip is never to say no if you want to move your business further. Just do it, don’t overthink it.
Did Your Inflatable Boat Sell?
Stacy says she purchased an inflatable boat but never listed it on eBay because she was worried she would be stuck with it. She sold it locally for $1,200, which still gave her some profit. But it was a good experience to say they flipped a boat.
Where Do You See Your Flipping Business In The Next Couple Of Years?
Stacy is currently working to scale her business, and she hired someone to help her pick up items and do her pallets. In five years, she wants to retire and travel the world.
Do You Have Any Other Advice?
If you’re having mindset issues, think about the stakes. Stacy says she will remind herself to think about it being okay if she has a bad experience because it doesn’t undo all the positive work she’s already done with flipping.

How To Make Money Flipping Domains – Interview With Grant From Millennial Money
hello Rob
you have heard from me before – Cheryl Gunnarsson from Sweden. Thinking about applying for your sourcing help but would you do that for me in Sweden?
Your positivity has kept me going and I have had average success. But a downer this week when I got a Simonelli coffee machine for 300 dollars at an auction to find it is not worth repairing! Felt pretty stupid and dear husband is now even more sceptical. 🤭
However reading your email today helped and I am not giving up. But sourcing is my biggest hurdle atm.
Lmk if you could help me here and if so I will join up very quickly!
Cheers
C Gunnarsson
Hi Cheryl! Shoot me an email at [email protected] with your zipcode and we will take a look and see if the sourcing membership would work for you. Thanks for writing in! You got this! One not so great buy doesn’t break your business. 🙂
