Are You Scared To Fail Your Flipping Side Hustle Before You Even Start?

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

Are you scared to fail your flipping side hustle before you even start?

We are avid podcast listeners and a recent podcast we listened to talked about how many businesses successful people started before they got it right. Usually you are a work in progress, learning what worked, what didn’t, and then growing from your failures.

You might be in the middle of trying to start your flipping side hustle, but you’re terrified that you’re going to fail. You might be feeling that way because of your previous track record. You might be wondering, is this going to be another failure?

You should not let that fear deter you from getting started.

Stick With One Thing

I have had a ton of different side hustles in my life before flipping stuck. Those of us who have an entrepreneurial spirit usually try and fail at a few things before finding the one we want to stick with. The list of things I’ve thought about trying or have tried includes: landscaping, house painting, tours, parasailing, pool maintenance, roofing, and others. These are all business ideas and I could’ve found success with any of them if I stuck with them. My brother-in-law told me I have so many great ideas and I just needed to stick with one, learn from it, and then I’d find success. That’s what I did with flipping.

Don’t get discouraged if you have tried a whole bunch of different things and they didn’t work. Maybe you do just need to focus on one thing. It may not be flipping, but if flipping is something you want to do, don’t let your limiting belief stop you. Even if your business failed in the past, it doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It means that it didn’t work out for whatever reason.

Shift your mindset.

Learn From Flipping Mistakes

I think about my journey, and it’s been 27 years or so. When I first started selling I sold a NordicTrack and it derailed me from my journey because I had some problems with it. Had I not let it derail me, I’d probably be farther in my flipping than I am now.

Back then, I sold a NordicTrack and shipped it out and it got damaged. I didn’t have insurance and it was a $1,750 item. I had to give the buyer a refund, but I had already spent the money. At that point I was like, “I hate eBay. I hate selling. This is not for me.” It derailed me for a short time and I got a different job. Had I used it as a learning experience, I would’ve been able to course correct and get back to selling on eBay sooner.

I didn’t ship it exactly like I should have because I was new to it, but all those are learning experiences. You get better from your mistakes. Eventually I came back to flipping and it’s been amazing. We’re still learning each time we sell and ship something new.

Do not let mistakes define you or keep you from starting.

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
