What We Flipped To Make $12K Last Week On eBay

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

Last week we made $12,000 with just four sales on eBay. We started picking up on listing, so it’s great to see some traction on sales.

We’ll dive into the numbers and the profits because you can spend $10,000 and make $12,000, but that’s not what our goal is. Our goal is to make at least 10x on our investments and make our profits on eBay. Spoiler alert, we have some examples of making 20x our investment.

Item # 1 – The Jackhammer

This is a commercial jackhammer that you might see as you’re driving down the road. You might see someone using it to break up concrete. It weighs a ton and will not operate on a normal compressor. It’s got to have a compressor on wheels. We found this one while sourcing a cappuccino machine.

And we got two of them for $120. We also got a concrete vibrator which was not included in that price, so each jackhammer was really less than $60, but we’ll keep it at that price for the numbers.

Sales: $1,000
eBay Fees: $142
Shipping: $212
Cogs: $60
Profit: $686

Item # 2 – Brake Actuator

The brake actuator is something that we pulled from one of my contacts. It’s brand new and is a component that runs brakes on a commercial school bus. I got this new in package labeled, so I was able to research it.

Sales: $700
eBay Fees: $82
Shipping: $32
Cogs: $20
Profit: $566

Item # 3 – Molding Tool

I didn’t know anything about this one, but bought it with the bus actuator. It did have a couple little specs on that manufacturer plate and a model number. That’s how I was able to look it up and figure out that it was worth quite a bit more money. It was a used tool and had rust, but somebody needed this exact tool and it sold for $200.

Sales: $200
eBay Fees and promoted listing fees: $40
Shipping: $20
Cogs: $20
Profit: $120

Item # 4 – Turbo Chef Oven

The last one is what really took us to $12K in sales on eBay. We sold a Turbo Chef oven. This is one of the ovens that you would see inside of a Subway or a Starbucks. It’s one of those quick ovens that you pull down the door, put food inside, press a button, and it cooks pizza slices in minutes. We got this on our road trip over the summer for $400 and we sold it for $10,000. People ask how we can sell it for that and why someone would sell it to us for so cheap. It’s because the person selling it doesn’t want to bother with shipping and they’re not putting it on eBay where they can offer shipping.

And we’re selling it for about half price. So the retail value is there. This normally retails for $23,000-$25,0000. We try to sell at 50% retail so it’s a great deal for the buyer and for us.

Sales: $10,000
eBay Fees: $290
Shipping: $125
Cogs: $400
Profit: $9,185

We cleared over $10,000 in these four items. This is why we absolutely love high profit items. This did not take a lot to fulfill all of these. It did not take that much time in a week’s worth of work.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
