Our Recent $6K Flip And What You Need To Know About High Profit eBay Flips

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

We love when we get high profit flips! Today we’re going to talk about a $6,000 flip we just had last night, and we’re also going to dive into what you need to know about eBay fees with high profit flips.

People ask how long we sit on items with our flips. And the truth is, it ranges. You never know how long you’ll sit on an item. I priced this item very competitively and took an offer to move it quicker. We sat on this item for just under two weeks. It was listed, and we sold four of them. It was the Stryker MX Pro ambulance stretchers or cots.

Be Open To Offers

We bought 12 of them, and this was the cheapest model. I had four of these and then eight of the more expensive model. Somebody locally wanted all four of these and sent me an offer. Typically I don’t accept offers, but I’m trying to move items.

I had them listed at $2,300, and they offered me $1,300 each. I countered them with $1,500 each and said I’d meet them halfway to deliver them in person.

After I got the message with the offer, I went back into eBay and clicked to allow offers so they could offer me an amount through eBay rather than the eBay messages. Once an offer is submitted through eBay, it’s binding, and they have to pay for it if the seller accepts the offer.

Let’s dive into the numbers.

Sales: $6,000 (for all four items)
eBay Fees: $405
Shipping: $0
Gas: $20
Cogs: $183/unit, totaling $732
Profit: $4,843

We only had to go out of pocket $732 to make $4,800!

Keep An Eye On eBay Fees

The only time I’ve ever had eBay do the fees the wrong way is when it’s multiples of an item on the same order. eBay has different thresholds that they change. This was $6,000 and one transaction. eBay charges you that initial 12% or whatever it is for that category. This category was 12%. But after that $2,500, the percentage goes down to a really low number, around 3%.

So it should have been $300 and then $3,500 at 3%. It should have come out to $405 in fees, but they mischarged me.

It was charging as if there were four transactions when there was only one, even though it had four items. They charged $180 per item and treated it like four transactions of $1,500, so they could get their 12% on all $6,000. Now, this was probably a computer doing that, so I was able to get someone on the phone and explain the issue as I’ve done when this happened before. The report was filed, and it has to be approved by the office, which can take up to five days to get my money back, but it’s worth doing.

If you sell higher profit items, you want to keep an eye on eBay fees, especially when multiple items are in one transaction. Almost $5,000 in profits! I’ll take that any day. If I were to ship this, it probably would’ve been $200 for one stretcher and $400-$500 for all four.

We are just about to dive into our high profit four-week training, which we’re super excited about. Check out 1000flip.com to learn more!

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
