Why Selling High Profit Items On eBay Is The Perfect Side Hustle For Realtors

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

Selling high profit items on eBay is the perfect side hustle for realtors and we’re going to tell you why.

We love real estate. I almost got my realtors license years ago, and I love investing in real estate. We constantly want to buy more real estate; we’ve sold properties and always kicked ourselves for selling.

But flipping is a great skill for realtors to have, and as a realtor you have resources that lend themselves to high profit flipping.

Realtors Understand Comps

The first benefit to flipping high profit items as a realtor is that you already know how to do research on comps. As a realtor you go in and find out what houses are worth, what the market is doing, and what other houses of comparable size, location, and amenities have sold for.

That is very similar to comparing items on eBay. So if you have an item you are selling, you’ll be able to look at comps on eBay and recognize similar items to evaluate what you might sell your item for and whether it’s a good investment.

With high profit flipping we always look at the comps before making a purchase. We can make an educated guess on what it will sell for based on what similar products have sold for. Jump into eBay, see what is actively listed, and see what has sold within the last 90 days. You have that access at your fingertips, so apply your realtor skills to comps.

Build Your Own Schedule

One cool thing about realtors is you create your own schedule. You may not have wide blocks of spare time, but there’s time in your day where you might not have back to back appointments and you could swing by a thrift store after showing a house. Or you might have pockets of time in your day that you could dedicate to scrolling through some apps looking for deals.

In the realtor business you have the flexibility to make your schedule work for you and work in a little bit of flipping side hustle time too.

Thrift stores and flipping items tend to do well in times of recession because people aren’t buying new. So if your realtor business slows down during a market downturn, you can rely on flipping to fill in some gaps for your finances. People often prefer to buy things second hand during a recession and are looking for deals in general.

Realtors Have A Lot Of Contacts

One of the biggest benefits of being a realtor and flipping is that you have access to a lot of contacts. You know, when people are moving. When they move, they offload lots of stuff.

We even had a friend who was a rental property manager and she gave us stuff all the time that people left and we sold it. See if you can make contacts that will call you in those situations.

The other thing with your network is you probably know when people are updating kitchens and bathrooms and have to get rid of old appliances. They’re not trash; there’s nothing wrong with them.

That’s when you can swoop in and get them for cheap or free.

Why Selling High Profit Items On eBay Is The Perfect Side Hustle For Realtors

We make so much money on used appliances that get discarded or sold for cheap but are still in great condition.

The biggest thing is your network, and I don’t know any realtor who’s not out there and networking.

We’re able to turn around and make the money on these appliances because we’re selling on eBay which is a nationwide market versus Facebook Marketplace, which is typically a 30-mile radius.

That’s why when you’re actually selling, you want to be on eBay.

We think flipping is a great side hustle for realtors and could be a good way to add extra income. If you want to learn more, check out a new course we’re kicking off, 1000flip.com. Learn how to make your first $1,000 with high profit flips.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
