Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.
Today we’re going to talk about eBay’s new listing tool, the good and the bad. It’s still in beta so not everybody has access to it yet.
But I did start trying it out, and today I’m going to share what you can do with the new tool. It is engineered toward video, to be able to get videos onto your listings more easily, which is really, really cool for flippers like us.
In the past, if you wanted to upload your video to eBay, you’d have to take a link from YouTube, put it into a tool to convert it to HTML, and then add it to your listing under the HTML tab. The problem was that the video link was in the description, not the pictures. So now with this new tool, a video will appear as the second item in your pictures.
If you have access to the new beta feature, when you go to your listing, the top right-hand corner will say something like “Try our new listing tool.”
Show A Product Works
For us, eBay’s new listing tool is great because we do higher profit items, and we sell fewer items throughout the year. It’s better for us to have a video showing our large item working, showing that this used item functions as it should. So not only can a buyer see the pictures, but the buyer is also able to see the video, and gain confidence in the item that they’re purchasing because they can see it working.
With our business model of selling higher dollar items, people would like to see items working before they press the “Buy Now” button. Adding a video will also help set your item apart from other listings for the same item.
Another benefit is that you have that video to show eBay too, in case something happens during the shipping or on the buyer’s end after receiving the item.
Things To Note About Video
If you sell a lot of items it could be time-consuming to take video for all of those items. The other thing to remember is clutter matters for videos too. Just like with pictures, you want a clean clutter-free video. Make it presentable.
The video piece is not yet mobile-friendly, although that could be coming in the future. So it’s an extra step if you prefer to list on mobile. If you set up your listings on your phone, you would just have to go to the computer to add the video.
Another thing to note is that videos have to be reviewed by eBay before they go live for quality control. This means it’ll take a video typically 24 to 48 hours to review, but up to 7 days depending on their workload or capacity.
I’ve used this feature twice since the beta was released, and I am very, very excited about what it can do for resellers. Have you tried using video on eBay’s new listing tool? What was your experience with it? Share below!
