Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

On the show today is Jeff with Ebay Addicts. Jeff sells vintage media items in his eBay store, runs a YouTube channel teaching others about reselling, and works full-time as a medical courier. Let’s dive in to learn more about flipping vintage media.

How Did You Get Into Reselling?

Jeff was working a corporate job at General Electric and had worked there from 2006 to 2016 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. He would spend 10-12 hours a day driving a forklift and his gross paycheck would be $1,800 but after taxes and health insurance and everything was taken out at the end of it all he had about $1,000. So he started looking at YouTube videos and stumbled across one that changed his life.

Jeff realized he had to either increase his income or decrease expenses.

He discovered YouTubers Gilldaddy who would go to the Goodwill bins, load their vehicle up and resell $150 worth of items for $1,000 on eBay. They purchased the items for pennies on the dollar.

Jeff was inspired and decided to start with just $5-$20 worth of items to see if it worked, and it’s taken off from there.

How Long Have You Been A Reseller?

Jeff has been reselling as a side hustle since 2015 or 2016. It’s an entrepreneurial venture that allows him to work at his own pace and whenever he wants day or night. It’s still part-time for him since he has a full-time job, but his full-time job as a courier is another one that has flexibility and allows him to work when he wants as well.

What Are Your Goals With Reselling?

This year Jeff’s goal is to scale his eBay store to 10,000 items by the end of the year and grow his YouTube channel to 10,000 as well.

Once he maxes his inventory out on eBay, he wants to launch a second eBay store focusing on shoes and clothing.

Do You Work By Yourself Or Do You Have Help?

Jeff does all of his reselling business by himself. He specializes in selling CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, video games, VHS tapes, and audiobooks because eBay allows 10,000 free listings in those categories, plus most of them can ship via media mail for a cheaper rate with USPS.

He tries to 10x or 20x his investments. For example, he tries to pick up new shrinkwrap DVDs for $0.25 or $0.50 and then will sell them for between $10-$25 each. He will often buy those items in bulk to get a better deal.

How Do You Store Your Inventory?

Jeff’s rental house has a five-car garage and shed that he’s set up to work for his flipping business. He’s currently storing 6,600 items. It sounds like a lot, but he has a system, and it’s easy to put the sold item in a 6×9 padded envelope, put a shipping label on it, and drop it in the mailbox.

Tell Us About Your YouTube Channel

Jeff runs his YouTube Channel Ebay Addicts to help inspire others to get into flipping. He produces about three videos a week, with most being live so viewers can ask real-time questions. He has interviewed other resellers and hopes they educate, inspire, and motivate somebody to help make extra income.

How Much Do You Make Reselling?

Jeff averages between $800 to $1,000 in gross sales per week. His YouTube channel brings in about $100 per month in ad revenue.

Have Multiple Streams Of Income

Jeff knows firsthand how fast jobs can change. He was working his corporate job and one day the management said the company had been sold and it was being outsourced so they could go work on the assembly line for $50,000 less than his previous role.

Jeff recommends people start flipping to create another stream of income. You never know when you’ll need to replace a vehicle or pay for an unexpected hospital bill. Plus if you are ever laid off, then you don’t have to be as stressed about what you’re going to do until your next full-time job. Reselling can help you have extra income month after month for the rest of your life and get out of the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck.

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
