We’re going to share one of the top hacks that we know is a huge key to our success in the reselling arena. It comes naturally for some people, and others may have to work at it, and that’s keeping a positive attitude.
We recently listened to an audiobook by Grant Cardone about how having a positive outlook and being excited about life will change everything around you. We don’t know much about him or his views, but this chapter about positivity stuck out to us.
This can be helpful for your reselling business, any type of venture you’re going into, and life itself. In the chapter, he describes an experience going to his favorite restaurant; there is a valet there with a great attitude, who always is excited to see him, and is just fun, so he always tips him $20. When he works with the other valet who is down, he doesn’t feel inclined to give a large tip. It’s because the other one had a positive outlook on life. Different approaches get different reactions.
Don’t Try To Be Positive, Reduce Negative
One of the things in the chapter is don’t try to be more positive by looking at yourself in the mirror and saying you’re going to be positive. Instead, you want to get rid of the negative. That is much easier, and then you are left with the positive.
Some ways to remove negativity are by reducing the news and social media. It’s something that can impact you every day.
I used to watch the news daily, but it left me feeling down. I started realizing it wasn’t uplifting news; it was horrible things happening, so I cut that out of my routine. If something major happens, we’ll hear about it from someone we know, a neighbor, or social media.
Another recommendation to reduce the negative is to reduce time spent on social media.
Now we live in a world where you can see what’s happening across the world online, and you can feel anxious about everything you see. Sometimes seeing too much on social media can cause anxiety and be too much to handle. Be mindful of your social media consumption because it can take a toll. Eliminating those things can give more room for positivity.
Evaluate Who You Spend Time With
If the people around you are constantly negative about your flipping business, maybe you shouldn’t share those parts of your life with them. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t do something. It isn’t necessarily out of malice, it’s just their negative attitude, but you don’t have to let them bring you down too.
Survey the people around you. One of our favorite podcasters, John Lee Dumas, says you’re the average of the five people that you hang around the most with. Are those the people who are uplifting you and supporting your dreams? Those are the people you want to surround yourself with, so you can go to the next level.
We’re not saying cut out family and friends, but make room for those who believe in you. You can also tell those other people they need to get on the same page as you by saying, “I just need your support. I need your encouragement, and I’m going to do it.”
Attitude Makes A Difference
Your attitude in anything you do makes a huge difference. For example, if you have to do a mundane job but have a better attitude about it, it just makes the job go by faster.
Grant also said in the book that thoughts control actions, and actions control outcomes. What you think will influence how successful you are in your business.
Most people can’t last 10 minutes without a negative thought. Try to do the 24-hour challenge, where you try not to have negative thoughts for a whole day. It’s just an evaluation of your thoughts and being more conscious of how you think throughout the day. If your coffee is cold, will you complain and have negative thoughts? Is it something to dwell on?
You’ll see amazing results if you get past 24 hours and keep doing it. And it’s not like negative thoughts will never come in your mind, but if you’re aware of their impact, you can change them. Make your thoughts work for you and your reselling business!
