Last weekend we went to the flea market and found two items that are going to make us $1,500.
We used to go to the flea market almost every single weekend, but we haven’t gone in a while because I don’t need a ton of inventory right now. We went because we were getting ready for an upcoming trip and wanted to see if they had any snorkeling gear and we were also looking for a freezer. While visiting the flea market we had to look for other items to flip. If there’s a good deal, I can’t pass it up.

Item #1 – Panini Press
Melissa spotted this one. I would have walked right past it. I did see it, but I didn’t think the return on it was as high as it actually was. It was a Star panini press. When we looked at it the guy had a big $50 price tag on it. He said it worked and then I walked away. When I looked up Star pro max panini maker, I saw that new ones were $3,000 to $5,000 and the used ones were going for $1,200 to $1,500. I was expecting them to be selling for $300.
We went back and I negotiated with him for $45. I would have paid $50, but negotiating is expected at the flea market. I offered him $40 and we met in the middle. I didn’t test this, but since he said it worked, I was willing to take a chance at the price. I also could have sold it for parts or brought it back the next day if it didn’t work. We’re hoping it’ll sell for $1,200.

Flea Market Bonus Item
While walking around, I found a three phase converter. Occasionally I buy three phase items, and have no way to test it. This is going to be an item I keep in my shop. When I went on Saturday the vendor wanted $800 and I knew he would be there the next day so I left. I came back on Sunday and asked him how low he could go and he said $650. I knew the retail on this was $5,000-$6,000 new. I asked him if he would take $500 cash and he agreed. I had the cash in my pocket to do that so it worked out.
Another fun thing about this business is you get to find stuff for yourself for super cheap because you’re out looking for stuff and you never know what you’re going to come across.
Item #2 – Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Oven
This is a countertop oven that has a convection fan and it cooks cookies. I found this and thought the kids would be able to sell this on their eBay account.

The reason this grabbed my attention is because I jumped onto eBay, put in the name and model number, and saw one for $1,300 that had sold. I saw another one in the $600-$700 range so I thought it was a good deal. They wanted $60 and I offered $50 and we met at $55. When I got home, I saw a lot were listed for $100-$300. There are some selling for a high price and some for low. Either way, I should be able to make about $300 on this one. The kids will help clean it and get it packaged. We also can use it to show our members how to package and sell this type of item.
