We’re coming to the end of week three on the road, and we found some killer deals while we’ve traveled the U.S. on our family road trip.
Let’s go over the new items we found, numbers 8, 9, and 10 and then review the totals. The items have been getting better and better as this road trip has gone on. We actually pulled everything out of the trailer and have to figure out how to repack it all. It’s just like Tetris!
Road Trip Find #8 & #9
These are two of the same items that I found in Boise, Idaho on Marketplace. They are a laboratory machine, something that you test asphalt with. I threw it into our analyzer, it told me it was worth a lot of money, and I negotiated a deal. The seller had started at $1,000, marked it down to $500, then down to $250. I saw another one in the background and asked if he’d do $200 for each if I took both, so $400 total. He said absolutely, so we picked them up.
I’m going to list them for $10,000 each. I believe they’re $15,000-$20,000 retail and they’re in really good condition. That will push us to $20,000 off a $400 investment. Super excited about that find!
Road Trip Find #10
We decided to head to the West Coast to see Mount Rainer and North Cascades National Park, so we dropped the trailer in Boise, and drove to Washington.
On our first stop before Mount Rainier I found something on Marketplace, but unfortunately I didn’t have the trailer with me. We ended up getting an extended hitch from Harbor Freight and spent an hour building it. The item weighed 500-600 pounds, so we definitely needed it.
We took the item for $200. It was a ROM (Range of Motion) 4-Minute exercise machine. Melissa, the lady selling it, and I pushed it up onto the hitch. We lifted one half on and balanced it, then lifted the other. It definitely would’ve been easier with the trailer, but even with the $150 spent at Harbor Freight, we’ll still make good profit. They retail for $7,000-$10,000 new so I will list it at $5,000 and ship it.
A lot of times people sell items like this for cheap in the local marketplace because they just want it gone. We’re able to make money on it because we’re willing to ship through eBay.
