We are sharing an interview we recently did at The Reseller Summit to share how knowing your strengths can help you improve your flipping business.
Sheli Gartman has over 20 years as a business and life coach and a StrengthsFinder coach. Sheli is going to share how to use StrengthsFinder to learn more about yourself and how you can use your strengths to grow your business.
What Is Your Background?
Sheli says she was working in finance and did a deep dive into personal growth. A friend referred her to a class that ended up being three months long and really intense personal development. It changed everything for her, and she transitioned into personal development, life, and mindset coaching. She loved business and doing deals but she loved helping people more with their life. Sheli says she works with a lot of high achieving entrepreneurs.
How Does StrengthsFinder Help An Entrepreneur?
Sheli says StrengthsFinder is put out by Gallup Research Company which is very research heavy and backed by data. Don Clifton created StrengthsFinder after coming back from World War II and wanting to make the world better. He started studying strengths and how people could leverage them to make life better. The idea is that there are 34 strengths and everyone has all 34. You just have to figure out which ones you’re better at so you can hire out the other ones.
What are you amazing at? Fine tune that, polish it, and go crush it. One of the biggest ways to scale is to really leverage strengths. Hire a bookkeeper or hire for the task that makes you want to stay in bed. Offload those and don’t feel guilty about it.
Are There Specific Characteristics Of Successful People?
Sheli says she’s writing a book about StrengthsFinders and is looking at highly successful people. She said the high achievers that perform consistently and don’t burn out are planners. They plan in the morning or at night. They’re intentional with their time and make a list to prioritize tasks. Sheli says they also think about the future in terms of where am I going, why am I doing that, and what’s going to get me there? Successful entrepreneurs and achievers create the future they want to live in.
What Would You Say To Help Someone With Analysis Paralysis?
If someone gets stuck, ask what part they’re getting stuck on? There are general things that get people stuck like fear. We’re all afraid, but you just have to do it. Everyone has imposter syndrome and high achievers have it worse. Get used to it, put it in the passenger seat, and tell yourself you can do ti.
We all have insecurities and fears, but time blocking and just really doing the things that you don’t love about the business and knocking them out and getting them done is super powerful.
