We are so excited to share how we turned $120 into $3,000 in just two weeks with a specific eBay pricing strategy.
The summer has flown by and I picked this item up at the end of July and it just sold. We love the summer because we get to spend a lot of time with our kids, but they are now back in school and we’re back to a routine.
We’re going to talk about this flip and then get into what fall looks like for us. So what was the item that turned into $3,000? It was an oven range. We were on a road trip and I saw it was 10 minutes out of the way on our drive back home, so I was able to negotiate the price, drive by, and pick it up. When we got it home, I sold it on eBay for $3,000 plus $400 for shipping.
This was fun because when we post on social media about our finds and what they should sell for, people always tell us it won’t sell for what we think it will. This one even sold higher than we thought it was going to sell for, and didn’t take that long to flip.

Pricing Strategy For eBay
There was not a lot of competition for this item on eBay which was helpful. It’s a really nice range and I didn’t have to clean it much. I used a pricing strategy that I’ve been using a lot lately. It was marked at $3,199 and I like to get people interested in it at that price. I use buy it now on my listings and I do not advertise that I accept offers. I waited for people to watch the listing, and I check it every other day to see if there are watchers on the item. They will not tell me who the watchers are, but they will say, hey, you have two offers right now that you can send out for people that are watching this item. When I get to the right number of watchers, I send them an offer. That’s how I bring the business in.
I’ve done this multiple times. When I sent out offers to watchers on the range, I had six watchers, and dropped the price by $200 to $2,999.99. Somebody took the offer to save $200. That’s kind of the strategy that I’ve been having success with on eBay with higher profit flips.

If you put that you accept offers, right off the bat you will have people low-balling you or sending you offers. I feel like if they already know that you’re not taking best offers and then they get an offer from you, it’s like, wait a minute, I better jump on this. I don’t have 48 hours to accept this offer.
That’s our pricing strategy on eBay. Try it out and see if it works for you.
What’s Coming This Fall
As soon as the kids went back to school, I started getting messages and everything started picking up again. I’m trying to get back into a routine with listing. In August people are often starting house projects or redoing stuff because the kids are back in school. Sometimes August and September can be even better with used gym equipment than sales in January.
We’re getting ready for fourth quarter. For us, Q4 doesn’t really affect us as much because the products we sell aren’t seasonal. This fall, my strategy is to get things listed. That’s what you have to do. Go get your stuff listed because it can’t make money if it’s sitting in your money pile.
Look for free items on Marketplace. There are thousands of dollars of items waiting for someone to pick up and rehome. There’s no shortage of items. You can even start with decluttering your own house.
