Let’s talk about how to spot and find those high profit, high value items to sell on eBay.
We are very passionate about finding those high profit items that you can sell for $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 in a single flip.
We get asked how we find those items consistently. People ask, “How are you able to find these items?”
Probably 80-90% of the items we find are on the apps. Every so often, we’ll stop at a flea market or thrift store, but the majority of items we sell are sourced in the apps.
If we’re in a venue like a flea market or thrift store, I look for high value items that I can resell on eBay.
How do I know? I don’t know, but I’m not typically looking at small items. I’m not looking at knickknacks because I don’t know that niche. I’m generally looking at big stainless steel ovens, ranges, or dishwashers. Typically those are the items that will catch my eye because I know them or I know their brands. If I see something that I don’t know that looks like it could be valuable I’ll look it up.

But most of the higher value items are found on the apps. This is because people just want the item gone and we can get a good deal on it. We got an ice cream machine for free on OfferUp and sold it for between $2,000-$3,000.
Look For Brand Names & Do The Research
The number one thing you’re looking for on items that could have a high retail value is expensive brand names. You can find this in clothes too or other niches too like strollers.
Now, what do you do when you find something and you think it might be something that’s worth a lot of money? That’s where you pull out your cell phone, jump into the eBay app and look at comps.
If I’m at a yard sale or flea market, I might walk away first. I’m looking up that item with the brand name. If I can find the model, I’m checking out the model as well. I’m seeing how many of that item are listed and for how much. I’m also looking at sold items to see if it has a good sell through. Then I circle back with the seller and negotiate a deal.

I’m doing all that research. I’m also looking at Google to see what the item will sell for new so I know what the retail is on it. When someone is searching on Google, they may see the high price and then go to eBay to find it used.
We make sure to do the research on items before we buy them so we’re not gambling on it.
Another thing to note is don’t be sucked in to the point where you can’t walk away. Don’t get attached to an item. If you don’t get it for the price you need, you won’t make the profit. You have to be willing to walk away.
