Our First International Shipping Problem And How We Navigated It

Our First International Shipping Problem And How We Navigated It

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

We’re going to talk about our first experience using international shipping where an item didn’t arrive.

The first thing to note is this was not a $10 or $20 item, it was a $300 item.

The buyer paid $300 to have it shipped out of the country and two months later came back and said it wasn’t received. They opened a case and eBay put the funds on hold inside our account because that’s their normal procedure for this type of transaction.

We woke up to a notification that the funds were on hold and we looked at what was going on. I’d be upset too if I didn’t get an item two months later. It was a computer board thing. We had shipped it in a timely manner and even paid for two-day shipping to get it to the hub.

Figuring Out The International Shipping Problem

We called eBay to try to talk through the situation, but unfortunately their numbers all go to an automated system now. You have to go through the computer chat system and have a rep call you back. After the chat we had a two-minute wait and they called us right away.

After talking about what was going on, they closed out the case immediately. eBay told us we were not responsible for the $300, that they were going to refund the buyer, and release the funds to us. They did exactly what they were supposed to do in this instance and the difference between the global shipping and the international shipping is that eBay has your back no matter what happens. eBay proved that in this case and held up their end of the bargain.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
