How We Turned A $100 Flip Into $1,900

Thank you so much for spending your time with us! We would be so grateful if you could take a minute and leave us a review.

We recently turned a $100 flip into $1,900. Let’s talk about how we did it and how you can do this type of flip too.

Building Relationships To Find Items To Flip

We bought this item from a local flea market from one of the vendors that I usually buy stuff from. He actually buys storage auctions and then he brings the items out to the flea market and sells them piece by piece. We have made tens of thousands of dollars from the items that we have purchased from this gentleman. I’ve actually even gone to his house and bought things from him before because I’ve created a relationship with him, and have his phone number in my phone.

Building relationships is key to finding good items to flip. Think about people in your community that you could build relationships with — flea market vendors, thrift store managers, scrappers, or realtors helping clean out homes. There are so many ways you can get access to good items to flip, simply by building relationships.

How do you do that? You start talking to these people, see what they have, and let them know what you’re looking for. They don’t want to mess with shipping and listing on eBay, so it can be beneficial because they make a profit when they sell it to you and you turn around and make a profit on eBay. Exchange phone numbers and see where it goes.

What Did We Flip?

The item we sold was a pizza dough press. You throw the ball of dough on there and push the press down. It heats the dough up, spreads it out, and makes it into a pizza crust. It’s not very big and could ship on a pallet or possibly a box. It will fit on top of your range or cooktop. I paid $100 for this, so let’s jump into the breakdown.

Sold: $1,900
COGS: $100
eBay fees: $257
eBay promoted listing $40
Shipping: $250
Profit: $1,253

We had just a couple of hours into this flip to get it listed and shipped. When you break down the hourly wage on this, it’s over $300 an hour to be able to do this business, which is absolutely incredible.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
