We recently turned a $25 purchase into $1,000 and we’re going to share the tip that we used to sell this quicker and to the right buyer on eBay.
This strategy is something a little different that I don’t always use. I bought a box of these items and I decided to list them as a whole lot together. I also listed them separately on eBay. You might be wondering what I sold and why I did this.
What We Sold On eBay
We recently sold a prosthetic leg with a knee joint. Somebody got these from a local storage auction and there were two of them with literature and additional attachments. The person I bought them from was a little grossed out by them, but I have previously sold prosthetics so I knew they would sell well.
I picked these up for $50 for the whole lot and just recently sold one. To make this more desirable for the right person, I listed them together and separately, so I did three buy it now listings in total. You can do this with other items that you have if you’re looking to sell items from a lot.
The thing to remember is that if one item sells, you’ll have to remove the other listings or listing. It’s rare that all items will sell at the same time, so you can easily go in and cancel the listings if you need to cancel them. That’s what I had to do. When one of the items sold, I went in and ended the listing that had both together and I kept the listing with the other unsold item.
When To List In Lots On eBay
It may not be worth it to do this strategy with large lots like VHS or DVDs because it’s time consuming to list each individual item and then you always have to update the lot picture and listing when one item sells, but for larger more profitable items, you could consider this option.
I’ve done that with other things. I’m always trying to think of how to make something more desirable for a buyer. In this case someone was able to get a great prosthetic (note, it’s the joint that makes it valuable) for $1,000 when it would’ve been way more expensive if they had to buy it new without insurance. eBay doesn’t allow the sale of some medical products, so be really careful when you’re looking at investing in those, but I knew the prosthetics would sell because I’ve sold them before. It was really cool to be able to get this product to somebody versus it going to the dump and getting thrown away because somebody didn’t want to mess with it.
This is just one tip to help get your items in front of the right buyer on eBay. Do you have listing tricks that work for you? Leave them in the comments below or DM us. We’d love to hear from you!
