We talk a lot about how to 10x your eBay business or your eBay sales, but what does that really mean? And is it even possible to 10x your eBay business?
We just got back from a marketing conference and we’re so excited about all the things we learned. A lot of it was about mindset and we know in our business and lives, we have to get that mindset right. We’re in a world where it’s a recession, there’s not a lot of money, prices are going up on groceries and gas, but if your mindset is right, you can figure out a way to make money. You can totally make it through a recession. You can make it through anything with the right mindset.
Why Is 10X Easier?
A few months ago we were listening to Ben Hardy’s podcast and he said 10X is easier than 2X. Is it easier to double your business by working hard and really pushing or can you think of another way to do it that’s easier and actually 10X it?
When you think about 2Xing your business, wherever you’re at, maybe if you’re making $10,000, you’d 2X it to go to $20,000 next year, maybe that sounds like a lot. And thinking about going from $10,000 to $100,000 seems like it’s impossible.
We want to break that down for you and give you an idea of how it is possible to do it. If you can change your mindset and really, really dive into this, it is easier than trying to 2X your business. A lot of people think I’m already putting in 20 hours, I can’t double that and do 40 hours. Well, there may be some steps you can take to get better with your time. There may be things you can focus your attention on instead. If you’re doing the right stuff, you totally can 10X the business.
How Does 10x Look In Our Business?
Last year we did $92,000 in sales, and net was about $70-$73,000 after eBay fees and shipping. How did we do it? We realized that instead of making $50 a flip, we have to make $500 a flip. Instead of making $20 on a flip, we had to make $200. We 10X’d that portion of our business and in turn, that 10X’d our whole business. Last year, our average sale for the whole year was over $2,007 and we only sold 46 items. Because their value was so high, it made things a lot easier.
Think of how much time you have to spend looking for items to sell. Then you have to come home, take pictures, and get them listed. Then once they sell, you have to ship them out. There’s nothing wrong with doing high volume, but that’s not what we wanted for our business. Making $70,000 in profit doing five hours of work a week is preferred for our lifestyle so we have more time with the kids.
