Good Vibes: 10 Ways To Move Your Flipping Business Forward With A Positive Attitude

Good Vibes Only

Think positively – rewire your brain

We went to an amazing conference in Orlando recently. One of the things that really stood out to us was the session about rewiring your brain and focusing on mindset.  This can apply in many different ways.

It can mean focusing on the positive things that happen in your life. It can mean believing that you can succeed. It can mean, retraining yourself to make time to take more steps forward.

It can mean re-prioritizing, or tweaking your original plan. Whatever you need to rewire or reset, mindset is so huge. First we have to be honest with ourselves, even when it’s hard. We have to take a true look at what is working and what is not working, and then take steps to retrain yourself to believe in yourself, and next the necessary steps to move forward.

Celebrate successes – take note of your wins

A win is a win and they are all worth celebrating!

It is so easy to focus on the negative things, the challenges, and the obstacles we all face.

When something good happens, take the time to celebrate the win, even if it is small. Hey, it’s still a win right? When we take the time to celebrate the wins, no matter how big or small, a  mindset shift happens and we gain confidence, increase our momentum, and seek more wins.

Maybe we didn’t accomplish everything we wanted to, but we did accomplish most or some, and that is a win. Then, make a new plan for the next day.

Create new habits

I mentioned that we just attended a great conference. Melissa and I have been making some changes to move ourselves forward. One of the things I realized is that at the end of the day, to relax I sit down and watch a movie. I got to thinking, and that is two hours I could re-purpose and use to help move us forward. I can complete things I have not completed, I can use that quiet time after the kids go to bed to accomplish more things.

We all complain about not having enough time right? It feels like there are never enough hours in the day. Sometimes, it is just a matter of making better use of our time. I am starting to use those 2 hours to propel myself forward. I find when I do that, I sleep better, and feel even more productive the next day.

Believe in yourself

It is super easy to get down on yourself. “I didn’t complete that thing I wanted to complete”, “I will never get all my items listed”, “I will just never be able to move forward”, or “maybe I am just destined to stay where I am forever”.

We talked about rewiring your brain, we talked about shifting mindset, and we talking about celebrating successes and creating new habits. Well, if we don’t believe in ourselves, none of those things will happen.

But, guess what? All of those things will help us believe in ourselves. It is all about taking steps in the right direction. Sometimes it is baby steps, and sometimes it is big steps. And, they all count. We all have good days and bad days, but if we believe we can do it, whatever it is, we can. And, that will result in more good days because we have a positive mindset.

Focus on the positive

So they say that if you focus only on your kid’s negative behavior, they will keep acting out to seek negative attention. Experts recommend focusing on a child’s positive behavior, because they will seek positive attention. Well, it is pretty much the same for adults too. If we only focus on the negative things, we get in a habit of only seeing the negative things.

So, we need to focus on the positive things. It feels so much better to see things from a positive perspective. You feel more awake, more energized, and more motivated.

Change your attitude about facing challenges

I can’t do it! Have you heard those words before? Of course you have, we all have. We have all said it at one time or another.

But, when we push ourselves and do those things that we think we can’t do, it gives us the confidence to try something else.

Through the years, I have made the decision to change my attitude about things. I choose to face challenges head on and not hide from them. I certainly don’t know everything, and just like everyone, I have some fear of failure.

I will say though, pushing through, trying things I didn’t know how to do, and having a positive attitude about life and challenges that come our way has changed my life.

Many years ago, I heard someone say, “life is what you make it”. Back then I remember thinking yeah right? That statement really couldn’t be more true. Wish I would have realized it then.

Practice gratitude

We really try to make a point to practice gratitude often. I honestly feel so blessed to have such a wonderful wife and amazing kids. I feel so lucky to have the opportunities that I have been given. I get to do what I love every day, and then teach others how to do it too. What could be better than that?

Practicing gratitude is such an amazing feeling. To remember all of the things that you are grateful for is important and makes your journey even sweeter. Taking the time to think about all of the things that have blessed you, is humbling and a good reminder.

Take time to smell the roses

What good is life if you don’t take time to smell the roses? What does that mean? It means to have fun, enjoy life, remember to play, and spend quality time with friends and family.

We work hard to be able to play, travel, laugh, make memories, and take care of ourselves.

You win some you lose some – take out the good nuggets

In our hardest moments, there are always nuggets of good. If we choose to focus on the hard moments, we will stay in a negative space and not allow ourselves to move forward.

No matter what it is, pull out the snippets of good. What did you learn? How did it make you better and stronger?

In flipping, we definitely come against some challenges. Sometimes, there are hassles like return requests, damaged items, broken items, etc. We could let it get us down, or we can buckle down, face it, and prevail!

Surround yourself with good influences

Even when there are people that don’t support us in our flipping journey, there are people that do. Surrounding yourself with good influences is important.

Good influences are not just our friends and family, it can also be surrounding ourselves with good books, positive activities, mentors, good videos, inspirational figures, music that makes us feel good, doing things to take care of our minds, bodies, and souls.

Robert Stephenson

I grew up in Central Florida and have lived here my whole life. I first got into buying and selling items when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. It has mostly been a hobby that makes some extra cash, but sometimes it serves as my main income as well. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I find too many fun toys for my family (or myself), and just love the whole process.
