Grow an Income From EBay and Other Online Sales Sites
The ultimate course to finding hidden treasures at flea markets thrift stores, yard sales, & auctions, and turning them into maximum profit.
Are you scratching your head wondering how people can really make a living by frequently visiting the flea market and thrift stores?
Maybe you aren't even trying to find a new career- but just need to fill the gaps in your finances at the moment. Maybe there is some debt that needs to be paid off quicker or a savings account that is looking quite slim these days. Or maybe you haven't even been able to think about debt or a savings account because you have to deal with daily living expenses. And groceries just keep going up in price! Or, you could be a stay at home mom or dad who wants to bring in a second income to the home, but working a job with ‘normal' hours is out of the question because of the little one(s).
You need something you can do part time, on your own schedule, and something that doesn't have a huge learning curve so you can start making money in a few weeks time. Flipping flea market and thrift store finds online could be a great fit for you!
So what is ‘Flipping' exactly?
‘Flipping' is the art of finding things that nobody else sees value in and selling for a profit.
This is something that I have done for 20 years now. I first started buying and reselling when I was 16 years old. Back in the day of the good ol' classified ads! I used the newspaper to both find cheaper items and also to sell them. I also started selling a lot on eBay. That is close to the time that eBay was just getting started.
Back Then: An eBay user had to take a picture on a real CAMERA, upload them to the computer, write the ad in html on eBay, and use a third party site to host the pictures. That was a process!!
Now: Point your phone at an item, take picture, upload it right to eBay using app and create the listing.
Technology has made flipping items so much simpler. For both buying and selling. While eBay is a FANTASTIC platform to sell on, there are other places to sell too- like Offer Up, Facebook, and Craigslist. These are all great to buy on as well!
My wife Melissa has joined me on this ‘flipping' adventure, and this is now our primary income stream. We have 3 young kids (ages 4 and under) at home and we love that we have the flexibility to be home with them while doing something that we enjoy. Family time is very important to us and we know that our kids will only be young for so long. This time with them will pass before we know it.
You may be asking: “But Rob, can someone really make a full time income by going to the flea market and thrift stores?”
In 2015 we made just over $42,000 for the year. That was at part time hours (about 5-15 hours per week.)
The grand total for 2016 really blew us away. We weren't keeping a running total and when we found out we made $133,000 last year, we were ecstatic!(At about 20-30 hours per week)
We made $1,200 in ONE DAY back in May! That was a FUN day! Hearing that ch'ching ring from eBay and Paypal is a pretty sweet sound – especially when it rings several times in a day!
This past summer we had our biggest month EVER in July – over $25,000! That was what we made in half the year in 2015. We were just a little bit stoked about that one.
I mentioned that family time is important to us. But I also need to mention that we love to travel with our kids. Even though they are young, we have taken several road trips with them. Last Thanksgiving we took a two week trip to New Jersey, Rhode Island and Tennessee to visit family (and to buy a truck in Rhode Island). During those two weeks on the road, we made $5,600 on eBay! That made vacation even better!
“Well, that's great that you can sell that much on eBay and other platforms, but how does that help me?”
I have helped numerous people make a profit by selling online over the years. Some friends were trying to declutter, and others were looking to make some extra cash. Either way, I was the one they called. I realized that I enjoy teaching others this profession, side hustle, or whatever else you want to call it. I love helping people be able to go on their vacation (I'm a big believer in vacation remember! :-)), send their kids to gymnastics, or store away extra into savings because they can. And now I want to help YOU!!!
Here are what a couple people are saying:
“Rob has been buying and selling items for years. He saw how hard I was working at my current job and all the long hours I spent working instead of spending quality time with my family. He approached me one day and said I should flip items like he does so I could spend more family time with my daughter. I was a little hesitant at first, but I agreed to go check out the flea market one day. He showed me what to buy and how to dicker with the vendors to get the best price possible. I ended up spending a total of $50 on several items and made over $450 profit. I have been hooked ever since.”
“Over the past month I have been taking Dave Ramsey's ‘financial peace university' to help get my finances in order. One of the first steps he has you do is to get a $1,000 emergency fund. I called Robbie up to help me sell some of my things on eBay to make this step happen. He walked me through the whole selling and shipping process and over the past few weeks I am halfway to my goal! That emergency fund is now in reach and after that, I will be working toward bigger goals like paying off all my debt and saving money!”
“When I was 19 years old my good friend Robbie invited my bother and I to go on a 7-day Royal Caribbean cruise. At the time I was financially unable to afford a cruisebecause I was a full-time student. Robbie said, “Don't worry about it, I will help you and your brother make all the money you need before we leave on the cruise.” I was skeptical because the cruise was $699 plus tips and spending money. Robbie reassured me it was doable as long as I was willing to go to a few thrift stores and auctions with him. I agreed and for the next week we went to three auctions and two thrift stores. I purchased three items: a NordicTrack skier, a NordicTrack Walkfit and a ProForm treadmill. Robbie helped me set up an eBay account and taught me how to take pictures and list the items. I sold both NordicTracks on eBay for a profit of $565 and I sold the treadmill in the newspaper classifieds for a profit of $375. Needless to say I made more than enough money to go on the cruise and we had the time of our lives!”
